18x + 2y = –36 in y = mx + b form is y = -9x - 18, where m stands for slope. Therefore, the slope is -9.
To find the y-intercept, let x = 0.
y = -9x - 18;
y = -9(0) - 18;
y = 0 - 18 = -18

Slope: -9
Y-intercept: -18

The solution set for 7x + 5y = 15, –6x – 4y = –14 is (5, –4).

(7x + 5y = 15) * 6;
42x + 30y = 90;
(–6x – 4y = –14) * 7;
-42x - 28y = -98;
(42x + 30y = 90) + (-42x - 28y = -98);
2y = -2; y = -8/2; y = -4;

7x + 5y = 15;
7x + 5(-4) = 15;
7x - 20 = 15;
7x = 15 + 20;
7x = 35;
x = 35/7; x = 5
