5x + 2y = 6

y =(6 - 5x)/2

y = -5/2 + 3

The slope of 5x + 2y = 6 is -5/2 ,

3x - ay = 4

3x - (-12/5)y = 4

3x + 12/5y = 4

15x + 12y = 20

y = (-15x + 20)/12

y = -5/4x + 5/3

The slope of 3x - ay = 4 is -5/4,

-5/2 is not equal to -5/4 ,so they are not parallel .

5x + 2y = 6

y =(6 - 5x)/2

y = -5/2 + 3

The slope of 5x + 2y = 6 is -5/2 ,

3x - ay = 4

3x - (-12/5)y = 4

3x + 12/5y = 4

15x + 12y = 20

y = (-15x + 20)/12

y = -5/4x + 5/3

The slope of 3x - ay = 4 is -5/4,

The solution for 2x - 6y = 5 , x + y = 2 is (17/8, -1/8).

From x + y = 2 ,we get x = 2 - y , put x = 2 - y in equation 2 :

2x - 6y = 5

2(2 - y) - 6y = 5

4 - 2y - 6y = 5

-8y = 1

y = -1/8

x = 2 - (-1/8)

x = 2 + 1/8

x = 17/8

From x + y = 2 ,we get x = 2 - y , put x = 2 - y in equation 2 :

2x - 6y = 5

2(2 - y) - 6y = 5

4 - 2y - 6y = 5

-8y = 1

y = -1/8

x = 2 - (-1/8)

x = 2 + 1/8

x = 17/8
