Samn, I think you are referring to the old rule. Remember that rules can be updated.

I am not asking for it to be retracted because I believe it should be flagged because a correct answer was provided.



The above convo was one of my basis why i flagged and provided and answer. The other convo wherein my attention was called, ita difficult to find since it wasnt flagged.

In my opinion, to confirm with the rules it is okay to ask for options provided it is "except" and "not" and it is okay to flag the answer if a correct answer will provided.

With the above question, I flagged it because I have an answer to the question. I didn't flagged it because on how it was answered. It juat ao happen that andrew posted a note before I was able to completely provide the answer with the sources.
I guess the only mistake I did was to remind jtj about providing gen info or atleast do extra research.For this, my apologies to jtj.

In my opinion, I think the reminder given to me about providing best effort answers on "except" & "not" type of questions is the better approach than flagging it. I am no level 1 expert yet so I can not view your link to compare it with my 2 questions that were flag.

I do not agree that a flag has to be issued even if another expert was able to provide an answer because doing so would contradict the rules from which most experts are trying to based on.

You can add a new answer without flagging.

We agree that (as stated in the rules) you can ask for the options when the question contains NOT or EXCEPT, so this answer shouldn't be flagged.
