8x^2 - 2x - 1= 0;

(4x + 1)(2x - 1) = 0

(4x + 1) = 0; 4x = -1, x = -1/4 or (2x - 1) = 0; 2x = 1; x = 1/2

Solution set: {x = -1/4, x = 1/2}

x^2 - 4x - 7 = 0

(x - 2)^2 - 4 - 7= 0

(x - 2)^2 = 11

x - 2 = ± sqrt of 11

x = ± sqrt of 11 + 2

(x - 2)^2 - 4 - 7= 0
