The Prime Meridian and other imaginary north-south lines measure LONGITUDE.

Hi Janet, i don't understand why you flagged my answer, the source says;

Latitude lines run east and west and measure north and south while the Longitude lines run north and south and measure east and west.

Here is another source;
yumdrea, I think your source is confusing, because there is absolutely no doubt that the prime meridian measures longitude. It would be better if it said something like: Latitude lines run east and west and measure north and south OF THE EQUATOR. Longitude lines run north and south and measure east and west OF THE PRIME MERIDIAN.

The prime meridian is at 0 degrees longitude. If you live in New York you are at a longitude of around 74 degrees west (that is, you are situated at a point on a great circle which runs north-south round the Earth through the poles, which is 74 degrees west of the prime meridian) and a latitude of about 40.5 degrees north (that is, on a line running east-west, parallel with the Equator, which is 40.5 degrees north of the Equator).

Hope this helps!

Yeah right, i think i was just confused. Everything is clear to me now. Thank you for the explanation, Janet. :)
You're very welcome, yumdrea. :)
