User: The equations of two lines are x - 3y = 6 and y = 3x + 2. Determine if the lines are parallel, perpendicular or neither. parallel perpendicular neither

Weegy: neither since the slope of the first equation is (1/3) and the second has 3. if one of these is negative then we have perpendicular but they are both positive

1 Answer/Comment
6x - 2y = 5 (equ. 1)
3x - y = 10 multiply 2 on both sides the result is:
6x - 2y = 20 (equ. 2)
subtracting equ. 1 and 2 the result is:
0 = -15 which is false
There is no solution for the system 6x - 2y = 5 3x - y = 10.
