Question and answer
how health and safety risk assessments are monitored and reviewed?
I think this needs to be more specific for us to be able to answer the question. For instance.. [ if you work for a department store chain, they would have a facility safety and risk management team that checks such things as - fire exits, fire extinguishers to make sure they have been charged annually according to their expiration date on the paper tag, eye wash stations to be working properly and maintained, spills, trip and fall hazards, slip and fall hazards, chemical safety hazards, hazardous material (Haz-mat) waste handling and proper disposal, haz-mat shipping and receiving policies
and procedures, contamination, water leaks, animal and pest infestations, bio-hazards... That's not an exhaustive list, but it gives you an idea of the types fo things they check for. Most are part of a checklist. Some extraordinary circumstances and incidents are managed as they occur. Findings are reported to upper management and a monthly or quarterly report would usually be generated to go to headquarters for the oversight. In smaller facilities, managers are responsible for identifying, maintaining, and correcting risk management issues, removing all workplace hazards, and effecting a safe environment to work in. I travel from job site to job site. I train people on every kind of hazard they could encounter in their workplace. When there is a question, I read the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) on any chemical they use and train accordingly. I work hand in hand with each employer, so I am also an informal part of every risk management team, and have to know each job site's safety and hazard policies and procedures. But OSHA, (Occupational Safety & Hazaards Administration) which is federal, governs the safety and risks in every business in every state in America. OSHA provides annual trainings and recertification for risk management, blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazards and waste clean-up & proper disposal. If a business is non-compliant with OSHA work site regulations, they.. Additional Details added 8 months ago are heavily fined. ]
