User: Find the slope of the line passing through the points (-3, -10) and (4, 5).

Weegy: SLOPE = (y2-y1) / (x2-x1) (-3, -10) and (4, 5) y2 will be 5 and y1 will be -10. x2 will be 4 and x1 will be -3: [5 - (-10)] / [4 - (-3)] = SLOPE Negative take negative is positive: (5 + 10) / (4 + 3) = SLOPE 15 / 7.

User: Find the slope of the line passing through the points (10, 0) and (0, 3).

Weegy: Point-Slope form We know that y-y1=m(x-x1) so now we just plug in and simplify(not solve). y - 0 = -5/6(x- 2) y = -5/6(x+2) y = -5/6x-5/3 and now we just need to get into standard form. y = -5/6x-5/3 6y = -5x - 10 5x + 6y = -10 -(5x+6y) = [ 10 -5x-6y = 10 ]

The difference between the ages of two friends is 2 years. The sum of their ages is 74 years. Find the age of the older friend is 38.
Let the older friend is a , younger friend is b ,
a + b = 74
a - b = 2
a = 38 , b = 36 .

Janet invested \$26,000, part at 6% and part at 3%. If the total interest at the end of the year is \$1,080, she invest &10000 at 6% .
Let the amount at 3% and 6% is a , b
a + b= 26000
3%a + 6%b = 1080
a = 16000 , b = 10000 .

The vertex of the parabola y = -4x2 - 16x - 11 is (-2 , 5).
x-coordinate = 16/(-4)*2 = 16/-8 = -2
when x = -2
y = -4*(-2)^2 - 16*(-2) - 11
y = -16 + 32 - 11
y = -27 + 32
y = 5 .

The amount of revenue a company makes per day by selling x items is given by the function f(x) = 14x - 0.2x^2. 35 items should be sold if the company wants to maximize their profit
f(x) = 14x - 0.2x^2
x - item = -b/2a = -14/(2*(-0.2)) = -14/-0.4 = 35
when x = 35 , f(x) is the largets .
