Refer to pp. 321 & 322 of Psychology and Your Life. Describe views of marriage and children in early historical periods and compare those views with today’s society. Why do you think this shift has occurred? Overall, has this shift been good or bad for society
Views of marriage and children in early historical periods are the man is the one who brings in the money, the woman was the one who took care of the household chores and taking care of the children. [ [ In today's society most women have paying jobs outside of the home. Many of those women still carry the load of household chores and the children simultaneously with a full time job. Then there are some men who share the load of the household chores and children with the woman. Single parent homes leave one person to provide for the "family" financially, emotionally and any other way shape
or form possible. This can be stressful on the children and the adult as well. Which may cause rebellious behaviors from the children and can cause depression for the adult. Marriage is not really viewed as necessary for people to be "family", there are many who live together to see if they are able to handle marriage or they may find it easier to leave the situation if it is unwanted. ] ]
