User: The length of rectangle is 4 feet less than twice its width. Find the dimensions if the perimeter is 100 feet. with work not just the answer

Weegy: L= Length W= Width P= Perimeter Equation 1: L= 2W-4 Equation 2: 2L+2W=P=100 Then, From Equation 2, Solve the second equation for 2W. 2L + 2W= 100 2W = 100 - 2L From Equation 1, Substitute 100-2L for 2W in the first [ equation. This gives the equation one variable, which earlier algebra work. L=(100-2L)-4 L=100-2L-4 2L + L= 100- 4 3L= 96 L=32 Now, substitute 32 for L in either equation and solve for w. From Equation 1 32 = 2W - 4 4 +32 = 2W 36 = 2W 36 / 2 =W 16=W answer L=32 and W=16 ]

The length of rectangle is 4 feet less than twice its width. Find the dimensions if the perimeter is 100 feet.
l= 2w - 4, 2l+2w =100. or l + w = 50
2w - 4 + w = 50 ; 3w = 50 +4 ; w = 54/3 = 18
l = 2w - 4 = 2 * 18 -4 = 36 -4 =32
Length =32 ; Width = 18
