|2y - 2| = y
squared both sides the result is:
(2y - 2)^2 = y^2
4y^2 - 8y + 4 = y^2
3y^2 - 8y + 4 = 0
(y - 2)(3y - 2) = 0
y = 2 or y = 2/3
