How do I treat respitory infection in snakes?
First thing you need to do is raise the temps in their cage. My vet always told me to put something in their cage that then can hang off of to where their head is lower than their body and the mucous and junk will run out. [ Snakes in the wild do this all the time as a survival technique against URI's. I had a WC black rat one time that got an URI and he would hang around all the time to help clear his lungs out. What makes you think they are getting an URI? If you are almost positive that they are getting an URI then you need to take them to the vet. URI's are nothing to play around with
and can make a snake go from bad to worse very quickly and can cause death. The vet will more than likely start them on Baytril (an antibiotic). It's better to be safe than sorry! Hope this helps and good luck! ]
