The ordered pair (-1, -1) is a solution of the system -4x + 2y = 2 and x + y = -2. TRUE.

-4x + 2y = 2 ;
y = -x - 2 ;

-4x + 2(-x - 2) = 2 ;
-4x - 2x - 4 = 2 ;
-6x - 4 = 2 ;
-6x = 2 + 4 ;
-6x = 6 ;
x = 6/-6 ;
x = -1 ;

y = -(-1) - 2 ;
y = 1 - 2 ;
y = -1 ;

Solution set: x = -1, y = -1
