Frankie17851 56/9 is irreducible. sharpies answer is correct. When you left it at 56/9 that too is a correct answer , however sharpies chose to answer with the decimal approximation of 6.222 repeating.

If the question format is in mixed numbers, shouldn't the answer also be mixed numbers?

Not saying Sharpies' answer is wrong because it is correct. Just clarifying, because I have always stated my answer in the same format as the question.

Well...I guess technically the exact answer is 56/9, which he did not give...although his answer is a correct form of the solution, it is not the proper form to answer with,like you said Deb. I dunno what to do. I'm leaving it. All I know is that 56/9 is irreducible. Your call.

The two math sites that I use both state when adding and subtracting fractions to simplify the answer and if it is an improper fraction then to state it as a mixed number. It's not flaggable because it is the correct answer. But Frankie's answer is in proper form.
