In animal bodies there are THREE types of symmetry. The most common body plan is the BILATERAL symmetry seen in groups as diverse as worms, insects and vertebrates, while many simpler animals have RADIAL symmetry, and a few (the echinoderms) have PENTARADIAL symmetry.
