6x + 5y = -17
x = 33 - 8y
using the second equation to substitute x in the first equation:
6(33 - 8y) + 5y = -17
198 - 48y + 5y = -17
-43y = -17 - 198 = -215
y = -215/-43 = 5
x = 33 - 8(5) = 33 - 40 = -7
The solution for the system 6x + 5y = -17 x=33 - 8y is (-7, 5)

The lines 4x + 2y = 6 and 4x + 2y = 4 are parallel since they have the same slope -2.
