16x - 44 = 4x + 12

16x - 44 = 12 - 4x

12x - 44 = 12

12x = 12 + 44

12x = 56

x = 56/12

x = 14/3

The solution set for 2x - y = -3, x + y = 0 is {x = -1, y = 1)

(x + y = 0) * (-2) =

-2x - 2y = 0;

(2x - y = -3) + (-2x - 2y = 0) =

-3y = -3;

y = -3/-3; y = 1;

x + 1 = 0;

x = -1

(x + y = 0) * (-2) =

-2x - 2y = 0;

(2x - y = -3) + (-2x - 2y = 0) =

-3y = -3;

y = -3/-3; y = 1;

x + 1 = 0;

x = -1
