Roman Acies
The Triple Acies was the usual battle formation for the Roman Army. It included three parts: The Acies Prima, the Acies Secunda and the Acies Tertia. The Acies Prima was the strongest line of defense and consisted of four cohorts. [ The Acies Secunda was made of up three cohorts and was expected to fill in holes from the first line. Finally, the Acies Tertia was used to protect against flanking and in case the second line needed extra men. It was also made up of three cohorts. ]
