The Boxer Rebellion was crushed by the Eight-Nation Alliance, a coalition of foreign armies led by the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Austria-Hungary, Britain, and Japan, which defeated the Boxer forces in a series of battles and sieges culminating in the capture of the Qing capital, Beijing, in August 1900.
