x = 5 could be the equation of a line perpendicular to the line represented by this equation of y = 5 .
If y = 5 ,the slope is 0 , the slope of the line perpendicular to it is undefined .

2x + 5y = 36 is the equation of a line that passes through the point (–2, 8) and is perpendicular to the line represented by this equation of 5x - 2y = -10 .
5x - 2y = -10;
2y = 5x + 10;
y = 5/2x + 5 ;
The slope of 5x - 2y = -10 is 5/2 , slope of the line is -2/5, so the line is as follows ;
y - 8 = -2/5(x + 2);
5y - 40 = -2x - 4;
2x + 5y = 36 .
