Moles = concentration × volume
= 0.60 × 0.100
= 0.060 mol
Find molar mass using mass and moles
Molar mass = mass / moles
= 19.08 g / 0.060 mol
= 318 g/mol
Find value of x
Molar mass of K CO3 = 2(39) + 12 + 3(16) = 138 g/mol
Let water of crystallization be xH O = x × 18
138 + 18x = 318
18x = 318 - 138 = 180
x = 180 / 18 = 10
Answer:
x = 10
So the compound is K2CO3·10H2O
