User: Why should we communicate differently?

Weegy: When people lived in small groups and didn't really have complex societies, just talking to each other worked well. [ Where is Joe today? Do you think it will rain? How was the hunt? But once people started to gather in towns and cities, life got complicated. So let's say you're the king of a city. You have soldiers to make sure people do what you say and nobody else tries to take over your city. Great life, right? OK, so how do you get food and money for you and your soldiers? That's easy! You tell all your farmers to send in some of their crops to you. After all, you have the soldiers, so who's going to say no? To be fair, you want to make sure that everybody sends stuff in. That's easy if you have only a few farms, but what if you have hundreds? How do you know who sent in food and who didn't? You want to be good to the farmers who obeyed, and send soldiers to...well, let's just say encourage the disobedient farmers to send their crops in. So you need to keep records. You need to keep a tally of who paid their "taxes" and who didn't. ]
