Question and answer
Write an equation for the nth term of the given arithmetic sequence. –9, –20, –31, –42, ... a. an = –11n + 2 c. an = –11n – 20 an = 11n – 20 d. an = –9n + 1
The equation for the nth term of the arithmetic sequence –9, –20, –31, –42, ... is a(n) = -9 + (n - 1)(-20 + 9) = -9 - 11(n - 1) = -9 - 11n + 11 = -11n + 2
