Our purpose of the introduction is to draw readers into your topic. Is that important? Why or Why not?
First impressions are so important. [ How many times have you heard that? It is true that the first impression—whether it’s a first meeting with a person or the first sentence of a paper—sets the stage for a lasting opinion.
The introductory paragraph of any paper, long or short, should start with a sentence that piques the interest of your readers. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. The opening paragraph of your paper will provide your readers with their initial impressions of your argument, your writing style, and the overall quality of your work. A vague,
disorganized, error-filled, off-the-wall, or boring introduction will probably create a negative impression. ]
