my maths was 3(2x+1)+4=8x+1
3(2x+1) + 4 = 8x + 1; 6x + 3 + 4 = 8x + 1; 3 + 4 - 1 = 8x - 6x; 6 = 2x; x = 6/2; x = 3

3(2x+1) + 4 = 8x + 1;

6x + 3 + 4 = 8x + 1;

3 + 4 - 1 = 8x - 6x;

6 = 2x;

x = 6/2;

x = 3
