To avoid wasting food:
Plan your meals ahead of time and buy just enough of perishables. Reuse leftovers in casseroles or other dishes. If you only have a little bit of left overs you can add them to a container and keep in the freezer - once the container is full you can use the contents to make a one-of-a-kind soup.
