User: How is the concept of "race" a cultural construct?

User: what is race

Weegy: Races refers to broad division of people based on their biological characteristics such as colour of skin, colour of hair and their facial features. [ These differences developed among humans in prehistoric times due to different groups of people developing in different parts of the world isolated from each other. Originally all humans in the world belonged to one of the other of these pure races. However in today's world it is difficult to find people of that time. Most of the people living now have mixed racial ancestry. Ethnicity refers to the common characteristics of a group of people that distinguish them from most other people of the same society. Ethnicity is based on commonality of ancestry, culture, language, nationality, or religion, or a combination of these things. Biological characteristics that play a part in racial differences may be visible in an ethnic group, but these characteristic do not form a criteria for defining an ethnic group. Minority refers to a racial, ethnic, religious or any similar group which exists within a society in small numbers as compared to the total membership of the society. ]

The concept of "race" is a cultural construct because it is based on social and historical perceptions rather than biological differences, categorizing people based on physical traits and assigning them social significance that varies across different societies and time periods.

Which primate groups has been observed tool-making most frequently? User: Which primate females show the incidence of perpetual genital swelling and the ability for constant sexual activity?
Weegy: May I have the choices? User: When do paleoanthropologists believe that human culture began? Weegy: Secular paleontologists assert that hominids began evolving from other primates starting around 8 million to 6 million years ago. [ Evidence of hominid activity between 8 and 2.5 million years ago usually only consists of bone remains available for study. Because of this very incomplete picture of the time period from the fossil record, various aspects of physical anthropology (osteometry, functional anatomy, evolutionary framework) are essential to explain evolution during these first millions of years. Evolution during this time is considered as the result of natural forces only.Creation paleontologists look to the Bible for insight into human history. The creation account in the book of Genesis tells us that humans and all land animals were created on the same day. This is in stark contrast to the assertions of evolutionary paleontology, which holds that hominids were evolving over millions of years and Homo sapiens only appearing a few hundred thousand years ago.[2]. The creation account also reveals that human beings are distinct from the animals and uniquely formed in the image of God. ] (More)
