Ocean acidification is a process in which seawater reacts with carbon dioxide gas to create acid.
Effects that ocean acidification would have on life in the ocean: Algae and seagrasses, which photosynthesize, could benefit from the extra CO2; but shellfish will suffer because acidification prevents them calcifying their shells.
