There were many diseases back then. Most were caused by unsanitary conditions.

In the 1700-1900s, common diseases included smallpox (virus), cholera (bacteria-contaminated water), tuberculosis (bacteria), influenza (virus), typhoid fever (bacteria-contaminated food/water), and malaria (parasite-mosquitoes). Poor sanitation and limited medical knowledge contributed to their spread and limited medical knowledge - best explain what are the caused of these diseases.

In the 1800s, people had diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever, tuberculosis, smallpox, and malaria. Poor sanitation, contaminated water, and overcrowded living conditions contributed to the spread of these diseases and medical knowledge was limited during that time - best explain what caused these diseases.
