I think that wether there is a jury or a bench decision, there are always differences in the crimes and the individuals who commit the crimes. There are times when you get a career criminal and then there are times when fate forces the hand of the perpetrator. No excuses accepted of coarse, but the surrounding circumstances should have an impact on the final decision from the judge and/or jury.

When we look at the system, everyone is affected and I don't think that many people realize that. The perpetrator, the victim, and everyone who ends up involved (regardless of their level of involvement) is affected. I think that this was a good point to bring out.

but I believe the system gives offenders too many opportunities to fix their problems. I believe the system should not give so many chances for offenders to continue to keep from having to pay for their crimes.
