Question and answer
How is adding radical expressions similar to adding polynomial expressions?
n both cases, you're adding "like terms". For example, 2x + 5x = 7x, and 2v11 + 5v11 = 7v11. You can't add 2x to 5y and get a single term, just as 2v11 + 2v19 wouldn't be a single term.

Adding radical expressions is similar to adding polynomial expressions by: we look for terms with the same radical or polynomial exponent and combine them together. The process of adding involves simplifying and grouping similar terms to obtain a single expression.

Keiko bicycles 7km/h faster than Praedup. In the same time that it takes Praedup to go 30km, Keiko goes 51km. How fast does each of them travel?
Weegy: Praedup cycles at x mph. Keikocycles at x+7 mph. .. distance traveled by Elena is 51 km. diatance traveled by Praedup = 30 km. .. Time taken by Praedup = 30/x Time taken by Keiko = 51/x+7. .. These two times are same. .. 30/x = 51 / x+7, 30(x+7)= [ 51x, 30x+210=51x, 21x=210. x=10 km/hr. speed of Praedup, Speed of Keiko = 17 km/hr ] (More)
