His New Deal policies aided America in avoiding the worst economic depression in American history. Along with this, FDR established other institutions that still exist in American society today and assist millions of residents. The Social Security Administration is one of the most visible instances. With the passage of the Social Security Act in 1935, FDR established this organization. This agency provided assistance to the elderly, unemployed residents, and people who had been injured at work (particularly in factories/industrial lines of activity). This organization still operates today and helps to cover some of the costs that older Americans face on a daily basis.
