The importance of updates for a computer network is to level up with the technology. Computers or network which are outdated can not catch up with the new trends.
Say for example, you have a new software need to be installed in your network and since your system is already outdated the software can not be installed because of system compatibility, then the best thing to do is to upgrade your system.

how can a file be encrypted and sent over a computer network?
Weegy: To turn on file and printer sharing you need to open the port (rt click on port), then select properties. You will find a Option to Start File and Printer Sharing. [ Once the service is started you then need to select the folder, rt click then share. Be aware of the security risk. If you take the NB away from your home network, I recommend disabling file and printer sharing. And make sure your firewall is active. ] (More)

Firewalls Another weapon for defense against network attack is Firewall. Firewall is a device and/or a sotware that stands between a local network and the Internet, and filters traffic that might be harmful. understanding a wireless network?
Weegy: A wireless network or Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) serves the same purpose as a wired one — to link a group of computers. [ Because "wireless" doesn't require costly wiring, the main benefit is that it's generally easier, faster and cheaper to set up. By comparison, creating a network by pulling wires throughout the walls and ceilings of an office can be labor-intensive and thus expensive. But even when you have a wired network already in place, a wireless network can be a cost-effective way to expand or augment it. In fact, there's really no such thing as a purely wireless network, because most link back to a wired network at some point. ] (More)
