I posted earlier about a child of mine being passed because he did so well on a final, even though he made little to no effort on any of his regular schoolwork. I actually told him I would hold him back myself (that started some controversy) if he didn't do all of his work. If they are given shortcuts, they will take them (Heck, so would I ), and that's not really teaching. Also, the world can be cruel and unfeeling and, as you stated, results are what matter. That is something that has to be instilled in them early and often. DO YOU AGREE WTH THIS STATEMENT? WHY?

grading on effort would not prepare students for the workforce. The work world is very competitive. As much as hard work is valued, effort without performance just won't cut it. DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT? WHY?
