None of the selections is a run-on sentence. "after I returned home from college, I saw Dad in a different way" is a complex sentence.
I was shocked to learn that he had a heft collection of hip hop saved on his MP3 player; furthermore, I was shocked that he knew how to use the technology" is a complex-compound sentence. "Even mom enjoys hip hop now" is a simple sentence.
