6x+2=4x-10

6x - 4x = -10 - 2

2x = -12

x = -12/2

x = -6

2 + 6x = 4x + -10
2 + 6x = -10 + 4x
2 + 6x + -4x = -10
2 + 2x = -10
2x = -10 + -2
2x = -12
