Weegy: 1. The propagation speed of a wave is equal to its frequency times its wave length. [ As for any given set of conditions the propagation speed is constant, then if the frequency is doubled the wave length will be reduce by a factor of 2 (1/2 of the starting wave length). 2. Standing waves are the result of the interrelation between two waves of the same identical frequency, wavelength and strength when they are traveling in opposite directions. The nodes will be spaces at intervals of ½ of the wave length. In a string or rope, both ends must be bound and a multiple of the wave length equals the total length under tension. That is why a guitar string is forced to produce a specific tone depending on the tension and length. ]
