The Iphone 4 uses a Scratch-resistant oleophobic surface. However, it would be much better if you will put a Scratch Resistant Case.

No, Iphone 4 is not using a Sapphire Crystal but you may compare it. The Iphone4 uses a very hard plastic. You can use a protective glass case to protect the screen from scratches. That's what i did to my previous Iphone 4g
