does mars appears from earth to go through all the phases like Venus?
Weegy: False. Venus is an inferior planet, whereas Mars is a superior planet. In reference to Earth, Venus is closer to the sun, and Mars is farther away from it. From our vantage point, Venus displays various phases, but Mars does not. [ Only the sunlit side of Mars is visible from Earth. ] User: Why does Mars appear fainter than Venus, as seen from Earth? What causes the changing dark and light features visible on the Martian surface from Earth? User: The ________ hemisphere of Mars is lower, smoother, and younger than the other one. User: The large canyon of Mars, Valles Marineris, is a ________ produced when the entire Tharsis region bulged outward causing the surface to split.
Weegy: according to a blog poll, the cause are the Martian winds. Light and dark materials blow to and fro across the surface. User: Which hemisphere on Mars is believed to be older, and what is the evidence? (More)

1 Answer/Comment
The southern hemisphere is older and higher in elevation, since it has more impact craters, while the northern shows more recent volcanism and lava flows, and even ocean basins over much of the low region near the north pole.

What is the evidence that Mars never melted as extensively as did Earth?
Weegy: Mars lies outside Earth's orbit, so it traverses the entire ecliptic plane, as seen from Earth. Its orbit is more elliptical than Earth's, so its distance from the Sun varies more. [ Mars rotates at almost the same rate as Earth, and its rotation axis is inclined to the ecliptic at almost the same angle as Earth's axis. Because of its axial tilt, Mars has daily and seasonal cycles much like those on our own planet, but they are more complex than those on Earth because of Mars's eccentric orbit. From Earth, the most obvious Martian surface features are the polar caps, which grow and diminish as the seasons change on Mars. The appearance of the planet also changes because of seasonal dust storms that obscure its surface. Like the atmosphere of Venus, Mars's atmosphere is composed primarily of carbon dioxide. However, unlike Venus's, the density of the cool Martian atmosphere is less than 1 percent that of Earth's. Mars may once have had a dense atmosphere, but it was lost, partly to space and partly to surface rocks and subsurface permafrost and polar caps. Even today, the thin atmosphere is slowly leaking away. Surface temperatures on Mars average about 50 K cooler than those on Earth. Otherwise, Martian weather is reminiscent of that on Earth, with dust storms, clouds, and fog. The two polar caps on Mars consist of a seasonal cap, composed of carbon dioxide, which grows and shrinks, and a residual cap, of water ice, which remains permanently frozen. There is a marked difference between the two Martian hemispheres. The northern hemisphere consists of rolling volcanic plains and lies several kilometers below the level of the heavily cratered southern hemisphere. The lack of craters in the north suggests that this region is younger. The cause of the north—south asymmetry is not known. In 1971, Mariner 9 mapped the entire Martian surface, revealing plains, volcanoes, channels, and canyons. Viking 1 and Viking 2 reached Mars in 1976 and returned a wealth of ... (More)

What is believed to be the origin of the Caloris basin? What other features on Mercury's surface are related to this origin? User: What does it mean when we say the earth's interior is differentiated?
Weegy: In the essay on Planetary Science, there is a discussion of an age-old question: "Why is the earth round?" or rather "Why is Earth a sphere?" The answer, explained in more detail within the context of that essay, [ is that gravitational force dictates a spherical shape. As far as we know, there is no such thing as a planet or sun in the shape of a cube, because for every large object, the gravitational pull from the interior forces it to assume a more or less uniform shape. Since there is no shape more perfectly uniform than that of a sphere, this is the typical form of bodies that possess large mass. ] User: What did Galileo discover about Jupiter that supported Copernicus? User: What are coronae? Weegy: coronae is the plural of corona. A corona is the rarefied gaseous envelope of the sun and other stars. User: Relate Kepler's Second Law to the speeds of the planets. Weegy: a law concerning the speed at which planets travel; a line connecting a planet to the sun will sweep out equal areas in equal times; "Kepler's second law means that a planet's orbital speed changes with its distance from the sun" (More)

Coronae are landforms that apparently owe their origin to the effects of hot, buoyant blobs of material, known from terrestrial geology as diapirs, that originate deep beneath the surface of Venus.

Weegy: True! User: Colors in Jupiter's clouds are largely due to helium compounds. Weegy: False - Jupiter is mostly Hydrogen User: What is the name used to describe the dark bands encircling Jupiter? Weegy: Jupiter is perpetually covered with clouds composed of ammonia crystals and possibly ammonium hydrosulfide. The clouds are located in the tropopause and are arranged into bands of different latitudes, known as tropical regions.
