User: A scientist is using a pulley in a laboratory. If the resistance force is 40 Newtons and the effort force is 20 Newtons, what is the mechanical advantage? A. 1 B. 2 C. 3 D. 4

Weegy: Not Math but I'll to answer...Mechanical advantage is defined as output force/input force since the machine is a pulley, the input force would be 20 N but the output force would be 40 N based on the nature of the machine so 40N/20N = 2 which is B.
