User: is it reasonable to except a totally unpolluted environment?

Weegy: No. What is "polluting" depends on your perspective. Before oxygen-breathing animals came about, oxygen was a "pollutant" released from plants. [ Oxygen in the atmosphere causes inefficiency in photorespiration, so would be seen by a plant as pollution. By reducing what we call "pollution," all we are doing is trying to make the environment more suitable for our own needs, like breathing. Trying to stop "pollutants" that cause climate change isn't for the sake of saving the earth, it has gone through plenty of bigger changes than what we are currently doing to it. By trying to stop climate change we are trying to preserve a favorable environment for us as humans to conduct our lives the way we currently know. Think about what our lives would be like with no clean water, no land for food, no forests for wood, etc. The earth would be fine, but things would look pretty grim for us humans.
