Weegy: in dunkirk 1940 soldiers would queue for miles just to wait to load a ship. Majority of the soldiers would go without food and drink for the entire time they were there which was 5 days at the most. 31st may - 4th june 1940. [ soldiers would burry themselves in the sand to be unnoticed. but the germans over head still bombed the beach. Winston Churchill thourght that only 20-30,000 would be saved but to every-0nes astomishment a number of 338,226 was saved by boat to ship. ]

After the reunification of germany the German Democratic Republic ceased to exist, and five new federated states on its former territory joined the Federal Republic of Germany. East and West Berlin were reunited and joined the Federal Republic as a full-fledged federated city-state.
