User: what is a diameter?

Weegy: Take a tape measure around the can to get the circumference of the can. Then use the equation for circumference of a circle (C=2ttr or C= ttD) to figure the diameter. Keep in mind that tt (referred to as pi) = approx. [ 3.14 - that's the standard. For example, let's say you measure the circumference of the circle at 6 inches. Then use the equation, 6 = 3.14d. Divide both sides by 3.14 to get the diameter. That means that the diameter of the can would be 1.91 inches. Hope that this helps. D
