Let the 3 consecutive numbers be x ,x+1 and x+2 . SO , x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) = 27 3x + 3 = 27 3x = 24 x = 24/3 = 8 SO the smallest number is 8.

x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) = 27

3x + 3 = 27

3x = 24

x = 24/3 = 8

SO the smallest number is 8.
