Vancouver is the major Canadian port on the Pacific Ocean and has benefited from much trade with Canada's Asian trading partners. [ As countries in East Asia, including Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, and Singapore, have grown economically, their international trade has increased as well. Vancouver is the principal Canadian port on the Pacific coast. Therefore, much of the trade between Canada and these Pacific Rim countries passes through Vancouver. Many businesses have developed around this trade and many jobs have been created. As a result, large numbers of people, both from inside Canada
and immigrants from other countries, have moved to Vancouver.
