2(x + 2) + 3(x + 4) = 31;
2x + 4 + 3x + 12 = 31;
5x + 16 = 31;
5x = 31 - 16;
5x = 15;
x = 15/5;
x = 3

2(x - 3) - (x - 2) = 5;
(2x - 6) - (x - 2) = 5;
x - 4 = 5;
x = 5 + 4;
x = 9

Wouldn't the answer be -3? When you have two negatives like that they become positive and when you bring them to the other side 8 becomes a negative. So -8 +5=-3.

X - (-8) = 5 ; x +8=5 therefore x= -3

5(x+2)-3(x-5)=29
Weegy: 5(x + 2) - 3(x - 5) = 29; (5x + 10) - (3x - 15) = 29; 2x + 25 = 29; 2x = 29 - 25; 2x = 4; x = 4/2; x = 2 (More)

10(x + 3) - 4(x - 2) = 7(x + 5)
10x + 30 - 4x + 8 = 7x + 35
7x - 10x + 4x = 30 + 8 - 35
x = 3
