Explain how radioactive dating works, and why it works only with igneous rocks
Radioactive dating is the measurement of carbon-14 in an object when something is made or born they breath in or absorb carbon-14 Which is in our atmosphere. [ Carbon-14 is naturally radioactive and slowly brakes down and we can measure the amount left to approximately guess the age of the object. Radioactive dating is only useful in dating igneous and metamorphic rock. Organic material that has not fossilized and does not exceed 70,000 years of age can be dated by Carbon dating techniques. Sedimentary rock can only be dated by its association with igneous and metamorphic rock.
