The degree of the polynomial is 8. It is the highest degree of any term in the polynomial.

(9x)^-2 = 1/(9x)^2 = 1/81x^2

= 4x^3 + x^2 - 36x^2 - 9x + 20x + 5
= 4x^3 - 35x^2 + 11x + 5
