Physical property: anything that can be observed without changing the identity (that is, the chemical nature) of a substance, e.g. melting point, color, density.
Chemical property: a characteristic exhibited as one substance is transformed into another by means of a chemical reaction, e.g. rusting of metal, burning, reactivity with water.
