There are two tomato plantlets. One of them is kept in an oxygen chamber with a light source and another is kept in sunlight. Both of them are watered regularly. The observation after two weeks will be: the plant in oxygen will be dead because plants must have carbon dioxide in order to photosynthesise; the plant in sunlight will be growing normally.

If the couple both have the Heterozygous Aa genotype, their gametes would have a 1 in 4 or 25 % chance of producing a child with aa genotype.

A normal appearing couple is found to be heterozygous recessive for albinism. Both have the genotype Aa. The gene responsible for albinism is recessive to the normal pigment-producing gene. The chances of their children being albino are 1 in 4, or 25%. The probability works out at 50% Aa (normal, carrier), 25% AA (normal) and 25% aa (albino).

If pink snapdragons of the F1 hybrids (RW) are crossed with red snapdragons of the parent plant (RR), what will be the ratio of flowers produced in 40 offspring? User: Around 40% of cats with white fur and blue eyes are deaf. The gene responsible is pleiotropic. What does this mean?

In 40 plants, the probably ratio is 50% red and 50% pink flowers, or 20 of each.

If pink snapdragons of the F1 hybrids (RW) are crossed with red snapdragons of the parent plant (RR), the ratio of flowers produced in 40 offspring will be 50:50, i.e. 20 of each.
